How do CEREC dental crowns work?
During your visit, your Maine Family Dental Practice dentist will first prepare your tooth for a crown. This includes removing all signs of decay and gently shaping the tooth. This process does not require a messy, uncomfortable impression of your tooth. Instead, special dental material is applied to your tooth, and a digital image is taken of its contours. This image is sent to a computer screen, where your dentist uses the latest software to design your new crown. The "blueprint" for the design is sent to the CEREC milling machine, and your new crown will be created in about twenty minutes!
